Intestinal microbiota analysis
What is the purpose of intestinal microbiota analysis?
- It helps identify an imbalance in the intestinal flora in the presence of intestinal disorders, metabolic dysfunctions, and weakened immune systems.
- It helps prevent or treat intestinal disorders, improve overall health, and generally lower the risk of developing certain diseases.
- It allows for the definition of an adequate and personalized dietary plan and its integration with probiotics, which are live and vital microorganisms that promote the balance of the intestinal flora.
Who is the test for?
The test is generally aimed at men and women of all ages who want to improve their health and personal well-being. Specifically, it is recommended to perform a microbiota test:
- During menopause, to check the balance of the microbiota in the presence of metabolic and hormonal changes.
- While on a diet or undergoing probiotic treatment, to assess the improvement of the intestinal dysbiosis condition.
- In the presence of intestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, constipation, flatulence, diarrhea, bloating), to evaluate the presence of dysbiosis and any pathogens.
- During prolonged pharmacological treatments, to assess potential dysbiosis and intervene with an appropriate diet and probiotic supplementation.
How is it done?
The test is performed on a self-collected stool sample by requesting the self-sampling kit from Genechron.
The kit can be picked up and returned at our office, or it can also be delivered to your home and returned via our courier (for a fee).
The report will be delivered 22 working days after the sample is accepted.
Two types of tests are offered for the analysis of the intestinal microbiota: BASE and PLUS.
The BASE panel only concerns the analysis of the bacterial composition of our intestines, so the report will refer only to the bacteria and their function.
The PLUS panel, on the other hand, analyzes all the microorganisms present, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, and provides a more detailed report on the composition and health status of our intestinal flora.
