Genetic counseling service
Genetic counseling is a medical act aimed at providing people suffering from a genetic disease, their family members and people at risk of developing a genetic disease with information on medical aspects (diagnosis, prognosis, therapy, follow-up) and genetic (type of genetic alteration and its consequences, mode of hereditary transmission, possibility of prenatal diagnosis) of the disease and the risk of it manifesting itself in other members of the family (probability of recurrence).
In cases where the diagnosis is not yet known or in cases where there is only a diagnostic suspicion of a genetic disease, a medical examination and the execution of specific clinical-instrumental diagnostic tests and/or specific genetic tests are often necessary.
