Good Practice in Using Public Funds
Genechron in the Biosciences Technological District of Regione Lazio

Since 2005, Ylichron has consolidated a relevant track record in achieving public funds for applied research and technology transfer. It has been also recognized as an “innovative” company in the Province of Rome (2006 and 2008). Ylichron is comprised in the list of “Anagrafe Nazionale della Ricerca” (CAR n. 57630AHK).

With a main research laboratory within the ENEA Research Centre of Casaccia, nearby Rome, Ylichron presently employs 10 full time research staff. This staff will be increased, according to the Genechron development plans, by 6 additional staff in the biotechnological area, to cover the activities of the Genechron facility.

Genechron represents a good practice of using public grants for technology transfer. First of all, it is based on the scientific cooperation between research centres operating in the Lazio region; moreover, it valorises the synergies between ICT and red and green biotech, which represent two of the most important regional technology clusters. Finally, the Genechron business model is based on the transfer of public research results to the market through the implementation of innovative services.
